In a new project, supported by the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors program, Comox Valley Arts is very pleased to offer a series of FREE workshops, artist talks and Ask Me Anything sessions.
Comox Valley is home to many 100s of experienced, established and well-known artists across an array of genres. PRACTICE is a sharing process to capture and distribute the incredible stories of their creative journeys. Through livestream, podcasts, video and blog posts, we will visit with and explore the lives and creative practices of many of these artists, as well as offer an education stream covering many areas of creative practice.
We’re happy to announce the first sessions. All of them are free, however space is limited so pre-registration is required:
Tue Nov 5, 2019 – This is an AMA style session (Ask Me Anything) on phone photography that will help break down the barrier between you and your personal tech. Local social media marketer, Eugene Chung of @peergardenmedia, will share his brain and offer all his tips.
Thu Nov 21, 2019 – Fri Nov 22, 2019 @ 9:30 am – 12:30 pm – In this 2-part FREE workshop participants will learn how to combine stills photography of their artwork with audio of them speaking about it into a ‘Photofilm’.
Sat Nov 30, 2019 @ 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm – How to Be An Artist (reflections and insights on creative practice, art education and business, and why lines are so damn fascinating).
Wed Dec 4, 2019 @ 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm – An opportunity to practice engaging with art by viewing original artworks by a local artist and sharing your point of view and knowledge with others.
We also have one fee-based workshop left in the season:
Wed Nov 6, 6-830pm – Facebook AND Instagram CRASH COURSE. Get up to speed fast, with all the absolute must-know info on these top two social platforms. A great workshop for anyone wants to get up and running quickly, or needs a refresher after spending time away from social media.
More sessions will be announced soon. Please visit comoxvalleyarts.com for more details, or to submit your own proposal to participate as a presenter. Click on the PRACTICE: tile on the homepage.
