CLT presents “AN EVENING WITH THE GODS” Two One Act Plays “Trojan Women” and “This is a Test” featuring the same 10 actors

Retired high school drama teacher, Brian Mather, who has directed many community theatre musicals for both Courtenay Little Theatre and Rainbow Youth theatre over the past few years, is on a new mission. “I really would like to work with teen actors who want to concentrate on their acting skills, away from the demands of being in a large scale musical.” Mather’s latest project for Courtenay Little Theatre is an evening of two one act plays, one a tragedy (“Trojan Women”adapted by Tonya Hays) and the other a comedy (“This is a Test” by Stephen Gregg). His cast of 10 actors, who all appear in each one act, have had the opportunity to work on two completely different genres of the theatre and the different acting styles required for each. “The real challenge is to be able to perform each style effectively in the same evening with just a 15 minute intermission,” says Mather. The two one acts will be presented as a complete evening of theatre under the banner of “An Evening with the Gods” on Thursday and Friday, November 1st and 2nd at Highland Secondary School at 7 pm each evening. This is CLT’s third Canadian production in 2017, celebrating Canada’s 150 year anniversary, along with its award-winning production of ‘The Drawer Boy’ and this fall’s mystery, ‘Evelyn Strange’. CLT’s ‘Anne of Green Gables’ is the same musical that has been on the Charlottetown , Prince Edward Island stage for the last 53 years. Written by Don Harron and Norm Campbell, it is full of wonderful lyrical songs and entertaining choreography. This is the perfect show for families to enjoy together. Anne (spelled with an ‘e’!)
