Mark your calendar for Saturday April 22nd, for a day of West Coast Swing. Our guest instructors are Michael and Amy from Vancouver including 3 afternoon workshops, plus evening workshop and performance. Plus the evening Dance will feature a cash bar and live swing music by Easy Street Duo and our DJ- Dr. John. Full details are below.
Due to the capacity of our venue, the afternoon workshops (3) will be limited to 30 leads and 30 follows. As in the past, we require pre-registration and encourage you register and pay with your partner to secure your spot. Single leads and follows can register as a single and will be confirmed once we have a partner for you.
Pre-Registration is required for the Saturday activities and you have the option of:
-a-Full day pass, including the 3 afternoon workshops, plus the evening workshop, dance to live music by Easy Street Duo and DJ Dr. John and a performance by Michael & Amy. $60.00/person
-b-Evening workshop and dance. As we have a cash bar, you MUST pre-purchase your evening ticket on-line; we cannot sell tickets at the door. Get yours soon, we are limited to 30 evening only tickets and will sell out! Only $15.00/person

Michael & Amy’s Bio:
Michael and Amy have been teaching West Coast Swing since 2010 under the tutelage of Canadian Champions Myles and Tessa in Vancouver. In addition to teaching regular group classes in Burnaby, they have been invited to teach workshop weekends and intensives around BC, including Salt Spring and Prince George. Their friendly, relaxed classes help their students learn quickly while having lots of fun.
Friday- April 21, As an option we will have our “Social Night at the Elks” from 9:00pm til midnight at the Elks Lounge, 231 Sixth St, Courtenay. DJ Ken will spin a mix of WCS, Hustle, Niteclub… Cash Bar, drop- in $5.00 (Open to everyone, chance to relax, meet Michael & Amy and set up your private lesson with them)
Saturday- April 22nd
10:00 and 11:00am: 1 hour private lessons with Michael & Amy. Contact Gordon Benson (after April 3rd) to arrange a time at firstname.lastname@example.org. Private lessons $60.00/hour for 1 instructor, or $80.00 for both instructors.
1:00- 4:30 Afternoon Workshops at the Courtenay Elks, Lower Hall, 231 Sixth St, Courtenay.
The afternoon workshops are Beyond Beginner- Intermediate and participants should have mastered all 6 and 8 count patterns (beginner/ Level 1/2 material).
The 3 workshops are titled 1) Social Dance Survival Skills, 2) Styling incorporating rotational connection; scrolling/shaping, 3) Interpreting music and dancing to fast music
4:30-7:30 Dinner Break
7:30-8:30pm Evening All Levels workshop – open to everyone. Evening Workshop and Dance Tickets are advance purchase only, tickets will NOT be sold at the door. Use the Registration Link above to buy your tickets.
8:30-Midnight: Evening Dance with music by DJ Dr. John and live music by Easy Street Duo 9:00- 10:30. West Coast Swing performance by Michael & Amy during the Band break. Note: Later during the evening we will be playing CLASSIC, last September’s Flash Mob, so if you would like to re-live that, practice it up!
